==// TROPICAL CYCLONE DATA NETWORK //== ==// HISTORIC TC TRACKING TOOL //== version 0.0.1980 SEARCH FUNCTION Years are selectable for which there is data. The planned range is 1963-current. Basins are official WMO basins. Central Pacific is included in Eastern Pacific for the moment. Optionally, input a name to be filtered by the year and basin dropdown options. Leave it blank to plot all selected year & basin data. The "Add" button will overlay the selected storm track data on the existing plot below. The "New" button will clear the plot below, resulting in the display of only the selected track data. GENERAL Click any cyclone track to display data (wind, pressure, location, time) for the beginning of that 6 hour period. PASTED DATA Data in the format of IBTrACS ATCF can be pasted into the box in the right sidebar and will display if "Custom" is selected for the year. Multiple storms can be plotted by separating data by the name of the storm on its own line. This is the only variation from the IBTrACS ATCF format, but is required for the tool to work. The data is comma separated, formatted in the following way: BB,0,2015111618,,,0.0N,0.0E,35,998,TS such that 0 - Basin (not used; in IBTrACS: NA, EP, WP, NI, SI, SP, SA) 1 - Storm Number (not used; zero-based in IBTrACS) 2 - Datetime (yyyymmddhh) 3 - null 4 - null 5 - Latitude (unsigned decimal value, N/S required) 6 - Longitude (unsigned decimal value, E/W required) 7 - Wind speed (in knots) 8 - Pressure (in hPa/mbar) 9 - Storm phase/type acceptable values: DS - disturbance (will color track gray, name Tropical Disturbance) TS - tropical cyclone (will color track with the scale of the basin a storm is in) SS - subtropical cyclone (will color track with subtropical depression and storm colors) ET - extratropical cyclone (will color track gray, name Ex-TC) Any other value will act as if the value was 'TS', as IBTrACS often uses NR. This allows for HU, CY, ST, and TY values as well. Other notes: If wind and pressure are simultaneously not given (less than or equal to zero), the track will be colored gray-brown and the storm will be titled "Unknown Intensity", regardless of storm phase value.
